The Paintings of Paul Cézanne
an online catalogue raisonné under the direction of
Walter Feilchenfeldt, Jayne Warman, and David Nash

I have the distinct pleasure in recommending Roger and Susannah Shepherd of panOpticon as superb designers of online catalogues raisonnés. I first became aware of their work when given a preview of the Mary Cassatt catalogue, sponsored by New York’s Adelson Gallery—I was very impressed with the comprehensiveness, scholarship, and elegance of the program and website. It is unique in that regard.
Fortunately, Mitchell-Innes & Nash agreed to hire panOpticon to design a similar online catalogue for the French painter, Paul Cézanne. It is exactly the kind of program that we have been looking for.
Roger and Susannah combine the professionalism, knowledge and understanding of the scholarship required to effectuate such a substantial project, but have provided a user-friendly design for those who are new to this kind of online format. I would add that they have been very accommodating from the beginning of our relationship and have gone out of their way to respond to our myriad questions and concerns.
We are very much at the beginning of our Cézanne project, but thanks to panOpticon, we are confident that we will achieve an extraordinary online catalogue in the end.

I am very happy to say that the work Roger did for us in setting up a database for our catalogue raisonné of Paul Cézanne was brilliant.
Roger and Susannah clearly understand the concept of a catalogue raisonné and the system they have set up for us is easy to understand, flexible in its application and amazingly comprehensive. We are thrilled with the final product and, in fact, would probably not have been able to produce this catalogue at all without their help. They have a clear understanding of what information will be of interest to scholars and general readers and have a sensitivity toward Cézanne’s work and existing scholarship which has greatly impressed me.
